My writing, my family history, and the Forest Of Dean.

For as far back as I can remember, I have loved books. Mostly I have bought and read old books. Not that I have any objection to new books per se. In part, it’s because I am lazy and time has done the work of winnowing the chaff of the uninteresting or untrue from the best grain. As an example of this, Shakespeare’s writing has stood the test of time for various good reasons.
Also, second-hand books are generally cheaper than new ones. I was brought up to be careful with money, and that habit stuck.
I am adding some local history information to this site, starting with downloadable copies of my mother, Gladys Duberley’s memoirs. You can access this area via the menu at the top of this page, or the link above.

I had no plan to write for publication, but with time on my hands due to Covid in the Spring of 2020 I started writing about John, a 10-year-boy, who has an alien AI arrive to share his brain. The John & Andy series is the story of John’s life and adventures, aided by his alien brain-mate, who he calls Andy.
In December 2021 I decided to prepare these stories for self-publication, starting with Book 1 An Ancient Arrival.
I hope people enjoy reading about what John does after Andy joins him. If so, it will be lovely to feel I have paid a little of my debt of enjoyment of past writers forward to future readers.
I’ve not used Google Books before, but I added Becoming Felicity to it since Amazon did not want to list this book. Click the button, and then Cancel to access the Free Sample, aka Look Inside.
